Sad farewellsIn 2011, the Newtown RLFC were saddened by the passing of two life members of the Newtown Rugby League Football club, and two great supporters and ambassadors of the game, Alf Richards and George Debnam. 7 January 20 October Season 2011Season 2011 was marked by some tremendous victories against teams vying with us for top four positions. Alas, once again, the leichhardt Oval curse saw us stumble in the qualifying final, but from Season Launch to Presentation Night, our club accrued more silverware in 2011 than we have done in many past seasons. In addition, two distinguished past players and a former Newtown coach provided us with an innovative and fascinating commentary on the game in a 'University of Rugby League THINK TANK'. Even at the end of the season, Newtown RLFC was making news with the announcement of a huge refurbishment project for Henson Park and our president, Barry Vining, being awarded a prestigious international honour. 9 March 13 August 17 June 30 September 27 October 28 October 28 October Former Jets show their skills in FranceIn 2011, three former Newtown players signed with clubs in French rugby league territory, south-west France. 2010's Jets captain, Jason Baitieri, and forward, Lopini Paea, signed with the Catalan Dragons to play in the English Super League, and fullback, Luke Towers, joined Limoux, for a successful season in the Élite 1 competition. 21 May 9 July 25 March 25 March |
